ABOUT CAPTAIN LIAM

Born on

the Ocean

I’m Captain Liam Devlin, a superyacht captain, expedition leader, and leadership advocate with over 25 years at sea. My journey began on the coastline of Byron Bay, Australia, where I developed a deep connection to the ocean and started my career as a PADI instructor before progressing into commanding luxury yachts around the world.

Today, my focus goes beyond operations, it’s about how we lead, how we care for our people, and how we protect the environments we operate in.

At the core of everything I do are three pillars: crew wellness, environmental stewardship, and leadership.

I believe that high-performing yachts are built on strong, supported crews. Creating a culture where people feel valued, clear, and motivated isn’t just good leadership it’s essential for safety, performance, and long-term success at sea.

I’m equally passionate about protecting our oceans. From integrating sustainable practices onboard to supporting conservation initiatives, I aim to ensure that the places we explore today are preserved for the future.

Leadership ties it all together. Whether I’m on the bridge, working with owners, or mentoring crew, my approach is grounded in clarity, consistency, and leading by example setting standards that elevate both the experience and the industry as a whole.

Through my work, my platforms like Check In Tuesday, Captains Chat and the Captain’s Course, my mission is simple: to raise the standard of yachting by developing better leaders, stronger teams, and more responsible operations at sea.

THE VALUES

These are not aspirations. They are the operating principles I have lived and led by across 25 years at sea — and the foundation of everything built on this platform.

Work With Captain Liam
Clarity Over Assumption

Crew always know where they stand, what is expected, and why it matters. Ambiguity is a leadership failure.

Consistency Under Pressure

The standards do not flex with mood or circumstance. The leader who holds standards on a flat sea holds them in a gale.

Lead From the Front

Excellence is modeled, not mandated. A captain never asks the crew to meet a standard they are not personally demonstrating.

Protect the Ocean

Every decision made aboard has an environmental consequence. Responsible seamanship means stewardship of what we are privileged to operate within.

Embrace What's Coming

AI, future propulsion, evolving crew structures — the captain who understands what is changing leads with confidence. The one who ignores it gets left behind.

People First, Always

Behind every great yacht program is a crew of people who showed up and gave everything. That investment deserves to be matched.
